Customizing Data Fields in Infusionsoft

Infusionsoft is set-up with standard contact fields that are listed as the default data fields. But, we can customize that!

Did you know that you are allowed to add up to 100 custom fields to a person’s record? A custom field stores one piece of information about a person that you can update manually or the system will update automatically through an Infusionsoft web form.

To further illustrate, I prefer “clients” over the default data field “customers”, so I have customized that field to now read “clients”.

Tip: If you already have a contact database stored in another program, then I suggest that you create custom fields before you import your contact list into Infusionsoft. You will want to make sure that the information is imported in the correct fields in Infusionsoft.

The purpose of standard and custom fields are used to:

• Collect data about your contacts through online and offline web forms.
• Sort and analyze reports.
• Search and segment contact into targeted lists.
• Merge contact data into an email, letter, or template to personalize them.
• Set-up rules for conditional actions.
• Schedule follow-up sequence steps (date field only).

Custom fields are organized in three categories:

1. Tab: a tab will contain a collection of fields that share a common type or purpose.
2. Header: are subcategories that group fields within a specific tab. There can be multiple headers under one tab.
3. Field: holds information about a contact. There can be multiple fields within one header.

You can upload documents to your client files in the CRM. This is another way to use the system to help you stay organized by storing contracts, agreements, or proposals.
